Wit & Wisdom
Wit & Wisdom in the Four Seasons in Baltimore has somehow put together the perfect recipe for the perfect Happy Hour spot. The lead bartender, Aaron, makes cocktails like he is making works of art and most importantly they tastes like masterpieces. Four One OH! teamed up with Wit & Wisdom to give you “Four Must-Have Cocktails to Try This October”.
Wit & Wisdom is one of my favorite happy hour spots I frequent in Baltimore. The chic atmosphere, the drinks and the food all make Wit & Wisdom a happy hour location that you must try! While most drink menus at bars can be a bit intimidating, especially if its your first time there, you can say I am here to make your life a lot easier.
While, all of the cocktails are AHMAZING, the Baltimore Southside is my absolute favorite. I love mojitos and this was quite possibly the best version of a mojito that I have ever tasted. I don’t think I could ever go back. Here is a rundown of the drinks, including the ingredients, for anyone wanting to try these at home.
Madame Lotus – Wit & Wisdom’s tribute to breast cancer month. This drink tastes as pink as it looks and the flavors are absolutely amazing! I didn’t even know that I liked brandy until I tried this drink.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Right gin
.5 oz apple brandy
.75 oz lemon juice
1 oz spiced strawberry syrup
.5 oz egg white
Directions:
Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker without ice
Shake well
Add ice
Shake well
Double strain into cocktail coupe
Sophisticated Scot- The flavors are just as sophisticated as its name. The earl grey honey syrup gives this drink a beautiful flavor while the ice sphere allows the drink to balance out perfectly with each sip.
Ingredients:
1 oz macallan 12
.75 oz lemon juice
1 oz earl grey honey syrup
1 dash of angostura
Directions:
Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker
Shake well
Strain into old fashion glass with ice sphere
Baltimore Southside- Again, my favorite drink! The rum is smooth and the other flavors combine to give even the best tasting mojito a run for its money. I am still in shock at how good this drink really was.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz of Papa’s Pilar Blonde 3 year rum
.75 oz lemon
.5 oz cane syrup
10 to 12 mint leaves
Directions:
Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker including the mint
Add ice
Shake vigorously
Double strain into cocktail coupe
Garnish with mint
Copperhead – A great drink for whisky lovers. A little strong for me, but I love the traces of pear and lemon in the drink.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz rye whisky
.5 oz orange juice
.5 oz lemon juice
.75 oz pear gastrique
.5 egg white
Directions:
Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker without ice
Shake well
Add ice
Shake well
Double strain into cocktail coupe
Papa na pua – Tastes just as beautiful and as tropical as its name! This drink has an awesome combination of ingredients that create a smooth finish. This drink was inspired by the lead bartender’s childhood in Hawaii.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz. hibiscus-infused rum
1 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
.5 oz. fresh lime juice
.75 oz. honey syrup
Directions:
Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice
Shake well
Strain into cocktail coupe
Garnish with lime peel and marigolds flower
The flavors blew me away with just about every cocktail and the story behind each one is even better. In fact, the stories are just as intriguing as watching them make the cocktails. You can appreciate that these bartenders are true talents in their craft and their drinks truly reflect their talents.
If you happen to find yourself at Wit & Wisdom, seek out Aaron and ask him about the inspiration behind your drink. Be prepared to be blown away!
