Spa Day at Four Seasons Baltimore

Hey! It’s Jamaya, Four One Oh’s freelance beauty connoisseur. As a makeup artist, my top focus is always skin care. I am a self professed skin care junkie! My medicine cabinet is filled to the brim with skin serums, cleansers and moisturizers. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to join Tia at the Spa at the Four Seasons. I decided to try the HydraFacial. This facial is best for all skin types. The facial involves the esthetician using a pen-like device to deliver a burst of water and various proprietary solutions onto the skin. They run the device back and forth over the skin to cleanse, exfoliate and treat the skin.

The multi-step process starts with a double-cleansing (once with a sea sponge and the hydra-pen) to remove any dirt, makeup or debris.  Next, a glycolic acid (7%) solution is used to exfoliate the skin. It aggressively removes the outer layer of dead skin which are common culprits for dry, dull and flaky skin. It also helps eradicate skin discoloration caused from sun-spots or age-spots.

Then, the esthetician uses a salicylic acid solution is used to perform extractions. An extraction is a technique used to remove clogged pores (blackheads, whiteheads, etc) This step is IMPORTANT as it prevents breakouts, pimples and acne.

Last, my skin was infused with a hyaluronic acid serum to hydrate and lock in moisture. Making the skin look softer, smoother and plumper. And topped off with a light moisturizer.

Afterwards, my skin was on major FLEEK! I walked out the spa with glowy, supple and radiant skin. The procedure took less than 30 mins but the results are worth it! It’s both efficient and effective. Two attributes that make any service a keeper!

Walgreens Beauty

Walgreens Beauty

Lately I have been experimenting with my beauty routine, and with fall right around the corner the timing couldn’t be more perfect.  Fact is, the products that I used in the summer may not work as we transition into fall.  Along with the change, I didn’t want to be overwhelmed with the cost of switching a few things up.  Let’s face it: a beauty routine is an everyday process and the cost of products can be quite hefty on the wallet.
Over the past month, I have been introduced to some great products that I am already incorporating in my newest beauty routine.  Not only are these products affordable with a great track record but also I can scoop them up with a few of my favorite snacks and my latest issue of Vogue.  If you’ve guessed it, I am talking about Walgreens, the best one-stop shop for some major beauty essentials!  Here is a list of things that are essential to my beauty routine available at Walgreens:

Maintaining Your Glow

  1. Boots No7 and Botanics make some amazing products and the brand has perfected a way to combine plant extracts with the latest skin care technology.  Summer can be pretty harsh on my skin, so I like to take the end of the summer to repair it.  We all know the healing properties of herbal treatments so I recommend the Botanics “Radiance Balm All Bright” combined with the Smoothing Facial Oil to help repair your skin.  Awesome fact, hibiscus is known to increase moisture and improve flexibility and elasticity, which is why hibiscus is nicknamed the Botox plant.  Hibiscus is an essential ingredient to this brand and you notice awesome results after continued use.

Give Them a Wink

Two of my favorite must-have beauty products are a great mascara and eyeliner.  Blue eyeliner is a major trend right now, and I have found the perfect ‘Vivid Vinyl Eye Lining Fluid’ by Circa.  This comes in an amazing blue and I know you guys will love it.  The No.7 Mascara goes on super bold and doesn’t run!

As I am gearing up for the latest Fashion Week season, Walgreens will be my go-to for all my beauty essentials.  Can’t wait to share my Fashion Week diary with you guys!

Smashbox Cosmetics

Smashbox Cosmetics has always been one of my favorite makeup brands.  I am especially excited to wear these new lip colors by Smashbox in the Fall.  I have been attempting to make a new video but I have learned it is not as easy as it looks… It’s actually pretty tedious.  I’m hoping to work on the editing this weekend so that I can finally make it happen for you guys!

I am however gearing up from Fashionweek and I will be packing plenty of these items to take with me!  Sephora is my favorite place to shop all things Smashbox! It’s always safer than shopping in stores because you will always see if it is in stock and you get free gifts with online orders.  How can you beat that???
